One year ago today was a Saturday, so we didn't visit any offices or try to get any documents or appointments completed. It was nice to be able to relax and know since we couldn't do anything for our adoption we could just enjoy the time. 7 of the families in our group were able to pick their kids up at Home of Hope first thing in the morning since they had passed court. They would have custody all day and have to return by 5pm. We went over later in the morning during visiting hours so we could visit with Isaac for awhile. It was so quiet on this second day since the other families were not there. We did get to meet some of the nannies, and we were so happily surprised that with all the children in their care everyone knew him on sight by name. It is a lot of work to keep up with the needs of each child but they love them and know them as well.
We also met another family in country to adopt their daughter. Isaac and the little girl were in the same room at Home of Hope and seemed to know one another pretty well. We enjoyed visiting with them and watching the kids. Isaac slept most of this visit but also was very comfortable with us. It was just a joy to get to know him, to learn his features and how he looks when he sleeps.
In the afternoon we were able to go out into the country outside Kigali and visit a small village. We loved seeing more of Rwanda, it was so beautiful. All the people in the village were so lovely, the children so full of excitement for us to come by. It was heartbreaking, seeing their needs, and being able to do very little. It was an experience we aren't soon to forget and helps us to remember why we want to help where we can always.

Such a good day!
